Exhibitions/ Awards

2024  ARTOMATIC 2024,  March 8 - April 28.  This was the 25th Anniversary show. The group of artists volunteer their time to show / share their artwork and also help run the show in an abandonded office building.  The DC Arts Commision was also a contributor in support of the artists..

Board Membership/Volunteerism

2016 - 2019 Center for Alexandria's Children, volunteer with the SafeAssured ID Mini-CD program.

2015 - 2016 Alexandria Police Department, team member with the SafeAssured ID Mini-CD program and I also perform data entry in the Administration/Records office.

2015 - 2017 Alexandria City - Domestic Violence Program (DVP), provide safe-house coverage and answer DVP Hotline and Sexual Assault Hotline.

DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, served on the DCCAH board for 2016 artist fellowship program.

2012 - current Board of Directors, Washington Sculptors Group, Volunteer Coordinator, In addition, I also provide graphic design and manage Art and Sculpture shows, and serve as the Call center responder.  I am responsible for beverage and food supply for WSG events and opening receptions..

2017 - current Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA), I am a foster "Mom" for neonate kittens. I also foster with Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA).

2019 - current Wildlife Rescue League, I volunteer with the Helpline phone service. Providing help to orphaned and injured wildlife by providing advice and guidance about wildlife.  I also participate in outreach education opportunities.

Professional Experience

Arlington Recreation Department - Arlington, Va. (1997 - 2009)

Art Teacher - Taught art classes for young children (ages 4-6 and 7-10). Taught a special “Dad’s n Tot’s” art class for the parents and children (ages 4-6). This class introduced parents and children to a variety of different art mediums in an environment that allowed them to work together as a team.

AHC Inc., Arlington Va. (May 2007 - June 2007)

Art Therapist - for Arlington Housing Department. Provided art therapy services to several groups of children and adolescents who were part of the low income population. The focus of therapy was to help the kids with learning appropriate behaviors, self-esteem building and respect for themselves and others.

Accotink Academy Alternative Learning Center - Springfield, Va. (September 2001 - June 2003)

Art Teacher - Responsible for the art department and instructed classes for learning disabled and emotionally disturbed adolescents. This population was a combination of disorders ranging from Asperger’s, Autism, Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity, Oppositional Defiant and low IQ’s along with delayed development.

GW Community School - Springfield, Va. (September 2002 - June 2003)

Art Teacher - Responsible for the art department and instructed advanced classes for gifted and talented adolescents. The students were highly talented and demanded challenges, so the class emphasized more complex art projects.

Animal Welfare League of Alexandria - Alexandria, Va. (December 1992 - December 2000)

Director of Adoption Services - Responsible for the adoption program which included supervising and training of adoption staff and front desk reception staff. The adoption counselors performed “home visits” to prospective new pet adopters and provided behavioral counseling services. I prepared seminars for the adoption counselors to keep them up-to-date on recent medical advances and behavioral information. Other duties included appearances on television to promote adoptions and spotlight a dog and cat each visit, advertising in newspapers, photography, brochure design, yearly budget and ordering supplies.

Fairfax County Public Schools - Intensive Support Program, (ISP) for Carl Sandburg Middle School. (January 2002 - June 2002) Worked as a therapist providing individual client therapy, group therapy, case management, IEP meetings and art project coordinator. The Intervention and Support Program (ISP) provides students with intense and supportive intervention to help them change inappropriate behaviors and attitudes. It is the mission of the ISP to help students return to general student population as successful learners and responsible citizens.

Foundation School of Alexandria - (Internship/Practicum) for Argosy University. (August 2001 - December 2001) Worked as a therapist providing individual client therapy, group therapy, case management, IEP meetings and community support liaison. This school is a comprehensive psychoeducational day school program. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic support and educational services designed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of children and adolescents who have previously been unsuccessful in less restrictive settings.

Foundation School of Alexandria - Alexandria, Va. (January 2000 - June 2000) Worked as an Art Teacher for severely emotionally disturbed adolescents. The following year I returned as a therapist student working towards my Master's degree in professional counseling.

Department of Mental Health Center, Alexandria, Va. (September - November 1992) Volunteered as an art therapist/teacher for chronically mentally ill adults within a group home environment.

Department of Education, Price Elementary School, Guam - (1991-1992) Worked as a Art Specialist, teaching the staff relevant art activities to perform with their students.

Images Advertising, Guam - (1990-1991) Worked as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator - producing newspaper advertisements, brochures, logo designs. Images was a full service advertising agency.

Crisis Hotline Project, Officer of the Governor, Guam. (February - August 1992) Served as a phone counselor on the Crisis Hotline providing initial counseling and referring callers to other professional agencies where further counseling could be obtained.
